Millwall winning at Elland Road...
has not happened since the late sixties. I know lots of Millwall fans because there is a Millwall pub in our town and the oldies there hold that win very dear to their heart.

Its a sort of legendary thing and the bloke that scored the winning goal for them is now a folklore hero.

So...

We cannot let them beat us this season.

It would be much more than just letting them claw their way closer to us in the table.

I'm sure we lost 2-1 at home to them in the mid/late 80s - the season they got promoted to the old First Division.

Just looked it up - 6.4.1988, Milwall did indeed win 2-1 at ER - John Sheridan got our goal from the spot.

Attendance 24,241 (Sm154)

Just goes to show how little Millwall fans know about football (Sm6)

This game is make or break for LUFC. A defeat will send us in to a tail-spin of luftwaffe proportions! We're already running on one engine and the fokkers that are millwall are coming out of the sun!(Sm138).....it's time to play Aces High by the legendary iron maiden before the game

Re: Millwall winning at Elland Road...
In fact, just checked through my book of all Leeds scores and we never even played them in the 60s, never mind lost to them.

We spent the 60s between the 2nd and 1st division.... they were in divs 3 and 4 throughout. No cup meetings either.

Are they getting mixed up with that game in the 80s do you think?

And (could be wrong here as my book doesn't give opponents scorers), but wasn't it Cascarino who scored the goals for them that night?

I was at that game in the 80's. . . .one seriously depressing evening. A repeat of that would be unthinkable. (Erm i just thought it!)

Me too. Seem to recall they had a front two of Cascarino and Sheringham and they pretty much played us off the park

I can't remember who was playing but they brought a lot of fans up. I think they got promoted that season and that game pretty much sealed it for them.

Re: Millwall winning at Elland Road...
Fair doos Fastbat I concede to your superior statistical and histroical knowledge (my book of every Leeds score line got misplaced about a year ago)...

Never mind, it got you reaching for your score book and researching: keeps you out of trouble. (Sm100)

I must admit I was relying on the Milwall fans who were adamant about the fact they have beaten us so rarely at our place.

(BTW the pub has sadly recently closed down and replaced by a Thai restaurant).

Despite my woeful researching techniques and over reliance on Milwall intelligentsia (surely some mistake there - isn't that a contradiction in terms?) my point still holds...

WE MUST NOT LOSE ON MONDAY.

My increasing fear is that we will get a right royal spanking.

If Grayson is reading this link - for goodness sake get the video out of that night they tonked us (whenever it was) - show it to the players and get them motivated ...

This far but no further!!!

MOT

I really hope that we can beat Millwall Robbie but I am not hopeful. They are on fire at the moment and we are running on empty.

Still, we must live in hope...
