Stirling Albion - Could we avoid relegation again!

Just noticed that the takeover of Stirling Albion has collapsed leaving them with debts of £1.5 million, could this again mean another great escape for Airdrie?

Stirling Albion takeover collapses

No as we will be bottom rather than play offs.

If we avoid relegation in this way again I am going to set someone on fire

I'd rather be in Division 2 and watch us winning than have another season like this one.

As a certain election slogan has it: We can't go on like this. It's time for change.

It'll be interesting, though, to see how it pans out. If they do go fully bust before the end of the season, then precedent would suggest that the bottom team not be relegated (as happened with Airdrieonians/Falkirk). However, if they survive the season, and the playoffs proceed, then they go bust, it would be the losing playoff finalist who would be in the First Division, as happened with us last season.

I don't think, though, that any of us would want to experience another season like us. We might as well accept our fate, and look forward to regrouping next season. IF we still have a club next season...

Aye, think it's time to re-build the club. Whichever division we are playing in, it seems almost certain that we'll be going part-time so purely in that case it would be better to be in the second as we would at least be able to hold our own in that division.

Incidentally, would it be different if Stirling actually won the league? We would be going to div 2 and Stirling to div 1. In that case I assume we wouldn't get relegated, but don't know enough about it!

There's no harm in us staying up if the Binos and Ayr each goes bust. Ayr have paid for players in the window that they can't afford so what's fair about them staying up? It was the same with Livi

Well said Cowboy. There are some on here who'd like us going down at any cost. Some don't go to the games,so why they are that interested, beats me.

I dont want us to go down but being realistic.....do we really want this tarred to us once again, that we stayed up after relegation by default of another clubs demise or financial problems removing them from the Division.

If we cant do it on the park and make our own position here justified then i think we deserve to go down.

Who's to sday we'll be winning games in Division 2? I don't think we're in any way assured of winning the league. Livi wil have something to say about that, as will Brechin and one or two others. I think WHEN we go down, a play off place might be the best we will do.

Yes,fully agree with Jailbait.Even a playoff may be a bit optimistic though as i have grave fears we will not bounce straight back up next season.

I hope not, we need to rebuild.

Besides, Stirling going bust won't affect Div1, it'll leave Div2 one team short thus affecting relegation from/promotion to Div2. If it's going to save anyone it'll be Clyde or the loser of the Div 2/3 playoff, depending on when they go bust, if they do. If it happens after they have won the league however then that'll open a can of worms as it will leave DIV1 one team down...

Messy stuff, again. I'd hate another season like this one.

I've seen so few wins during the leadership of The Relegator over the last 3 years that it's by no means certain that we can win football matches at any level. There are some teams down there who are more than capable of despatching us, eg, Livingston, Clyde (we can never beat Clyde), Brechin, Stirling, etc, etc.

I'm probably in denial this season. I just can't go and watch the team get beat every week so it's best just not to think about it. It would be nice though to think that you can go to a game next season where we've actually got a remote chance of winning. Surely asking for the relentless defeats to end isn't asking too much.

Incredibly, we've managed to avoid some real humpings this season but I think there will be a reckoning over the next couple of games with Dundee and Inverness away. I predict a double figure loss over both games.

Dobba, just as well we don't listen to your predictions, isn't it?Tuco, what are you on about being tarred with ??If clubs can't/won't live within their means and effectivly "CHEAT",why should we be the ones being "tarred"?
Brian Bollen "We may as well accept our fate"?...don't think so....No Surrender. Some don't give in that easily.Slowhand..Why not?2 GSTQ..."why would you want to set someone on fire?2 In conclusion, how many of you were at the game today and...if some had to go to their nearest and dearest funerals...why didn't you leave early?Part-time glory hunting bassas.
