Bill @#$%& Leckie
Posted by: Arthur Wilson (IP Logged)

Thus deserves a thread of it's own.

I was dumbfounded when the club used this @#$%& a couple of years ago, but now he's speaking at a supporters event. This @#$%& attacked Airdrie supporters through his column and refused to discuss the situation surrounding Airdrieonians despite polite approaches and pleas by other journalists on our behalf, including his colleagues at The Sun.
He was part of a group who helped put an end Airdrieonians.

I have stayed away from Trust baiting, but it has to be said anyone involved in this should resign now.

I don't care if the @#$%& is paying to speak. He should not be allowed to set foot in Airdrie.

Anyone who pays to be in the same room as him was not an Airdrieonians supporter.

DO NOT ATTEND.

I heard Traytor on the radio tonight (it helps me realise life could be worse, keeps my feet on the ground), the bampot was suggesting that the media should collectively do more to highlight poor old Stirling's plight even though it doesn't sell papers. These mediots really just make up their own rules as they go.

Bill fookin Leckie? Sickening, how out of touch are some people?

Jim Traynor did not play an active part in putting Airdrie supporters in jail. Leckie did.

Is this the same night as the one where Tam Cowan and JB are speaking at?

No. You thought it couldn't get worse, but they've trumped it. This is theplayer of the year night and AIRDRIEONIANS Hall of Fame.

NB No problem with Tam Cowan and Des McKeown.

Will a Trust committe member please explain this decision?

Arthur you and others who post on here were obviously a lot closer to this matter than me. However I don't really remember any "journo" taking up our cause with any real enthusiasm. Most went through the motions and said a few nice things about our club near the end but nobody in the press really got behind us, after all it was always going to be a bigger story if the club folded. I also believe that the way the Ayr game was handled by the press may have had a huge bearing on Airdrieonians not being re-elected to division 3. If they had wanted a real story perhaps they should have dug a little deeper into why the game was handled the way it was.

Think grassy knoll.

"Not sure how Bill Leckie played a part, didn,t they guys break the law?"

Please tell me you are on the wind-up here, if not I suggest you discuss the matter further with one or two of those Airdrieonians fans who lost thier liberty during that time.

Also suggest you obtain back copies from the Sun's archives

Some journalists were better than others. Most had the courtesy to listen. Traynor, Keevins, Young, McDonald, Dick (a freelance) among others. Some helped. Leckie, Spiers and the old scroat from The Sunday Post whose name I am to angry to remember, Bill Something insulted and adbused Airdrie supporters. A dis-honourable mention to Phil Gallie MSP for his part as well.

Leckies sensational coverage without even considering the facts contributed to the severity of the sentences handed out at Ayr.

Yes, they broke the law. Did they deserve to be in prison over Christmas, lose jobs? Did their families deserve the worry?

Change it and change it today.

That fateful day at Somerset he actually quoted my 1st name in his article as a "shadowy figure" trying to "stir up trouble".
Spent most of the summer waiting for the 5am chap to join my mates in the nick even tho i wasn't even on the pitch (due mainly to a burley officer standing by me throught the whole game) & my highly attuned paranoia (Sm100)

In fact i politely & calmly spoke to him about an hour before kick off in the car park asking for his support in exposing the Gemmell/Barr conspiracy to take ownership of the land to build a retail park & a part time team amongst other things. The pr!ck actually agreed it was a stitch up......

i would reserve a ticket for that table right at the back preferably in "The Shadow's"...... but i can't be ars@d these days.
Much better spending my cash contributing to the Sammy Conn benefit a week on Sunday than the Ballantyne benefit that is now organized on an annual basis

My guess. The Trust can't get anyone. They ask for help from the club. Friendly journalist Des McKeown is reccomended and promises to bring his pal Leckie.
