Moxey used to delight in talking about 'responsible' financial management. It always sounded like some overpaid cheapskate trying to maximise his annual bonus (didn't take Norwich long to twig his BS!!). But back at Wolves we then had the spectacle of Kenny Jackett, who did a great job of steadying the ship and getting us out of Division Nine, telling us that it was really bad news to bring in players, however good (read expensive) who had bigger contracts than their team-mates. It always sounded a bit dodgy and I really wonder now if the players who were here last season are really pi55ed off that they are not getting as much money as Jota, Bonatini, Neves etc? Or maybe Jeff Shi quietly gave them all an extra fistful of cash to calm down the restive dressing room, with its dark murmurings of discontent?

No, I don't think so either.

I was a little shocked however to see that QPR got fined 58million for previously breaking the FFP rules (2014 wages 77million revenue 37million, ouch) but that Jeff Shi is being cautious and believes we can avoid breaching the rules. Really? Great. Perhaps he can get Moxey and KJ on the phone and tell them how it is done. I suppose it is tougher if you don't speak Portuguese.

BBC FFP summary

The above is a few years old but still relevant as far as I know.

As for Wolves, if anybody could explain in plain English, I’d be delighted!

Having looked at the NBC document Ivy I can’t begin to offer and explanation of it all. All I would wonder is whether the managers that Moxey & co. repeated ad nauseum was that the Club always remained in the black - even during our PL days. Perhaps that will influence our future financial position?
