Looking at the games to play I think we can do enough to stay up. The homes games are straight forward. If we keep playing well we will pick up points.

Aston Villa (A) - Draw
West Ham (A) - Lose
Everton (H) - Draw
Arsenal (A) - Lose
Stoke City (H) - Win
Fulham (A) - Lose
Blackburn (H) - Win
Portsmouth (A) - Draw
Sunderland (H) - Draw

I see 10 points from the remaining games. That would be enough. If we keep fighting for our lives and we come up against teams with nothing to play for like Stoke, Fulham, Blackburn and Sunderland, we should get something from the game. Meanwhile I can't see Hull or Burnley winning more than one game for the rest of the season. If Dowie takes charge at Hull, we are looking at Laws and Dowie as the worst managers in the league by far.

its disappointing looking back at the opportunities weve lost. imagine the table now had we beat a poor wigan side in january, in which we failed to score, or beat bottom of the league and winless at the time pompey at home, or bolton away.

just a few games where we should be aiming to win, just imagine the table had we won 2 out of the 3. wigan would certainly be looking worried with their goal difference.

just hope we dont miss any more chances and end the season regretting these games

I see 13 points

Spot on with Todays prediction. I think we will get something out of Tuesday Nights Game.

With Both Burnley & Hull Losing today, we are effectively 5 pts away from relegation (Sm128)

Almost made my day to day! Still a draw is a good result. Super team performance again where the whole whole is greater than the parts. Doyle was immense today.

Villa were poor today and the missed abonglahor.

I hope my thoughts when I started this thread are completely wrong as I have been very depressed for that last few weeks! I think if we get relegated this year it will be just terrible.

Still worried that Hull, who have several "easier" games coming up might escape and put us in the @#$%&. Thew game against West Hame is another huge six pointer. Hoping to get to that game in mid week!

The Table is Looking better.

I would be happy with a Point on Tuesday Night. If we can get Draws away from Home & 3 points at home we will be safe.

4 Points from our next 2 games will see us 10 points clear (11 if you count the GD) from relegation.

If Hull don't get nothing at home to fulham & the week after they are away at Stoke

Cheer up Oldngold - I know Hull have some relatively easy-looking games in the run-in but have you seen Bolton's run-in? They are by no means safe!!!

great point yesterday but if we dont take any points this week and either burnley or hull manage to get a win we are straight back in the sticky stuff , until we have enough ponts gained to ensure safety i wont celebrate ................ just yet (Sm151)

Yep. When I made my forecasts, I only pondered the possibility of European qualification. Now it seems a sure thing!

Also made me chuckle that I said Fulham would eliminate Juventus. Just wish I had put my money on it.

Good win today at a really difficult ground for us over the years.

However, I think this is a temporary boost. Looking at the remaining fixtures makes grimmer reading than I thought earlier in the season, particularly given the form of some of the teams we have to face.

Aston Villa (A) - LOSE
West Ham (A) - LOSE
Everton (H) - LOSE
Arsenal (A) - LOSE
Stoke City (H) - WIN
Fulham (A) - LOSE
Blackburn (H) - Draw
Portsmouth (A) - LOSE
Sunderland (H) - WIN

Please remind me not to take any tips off you mate..lol..plus also i think Wolves always seem to do well at Burnley so not sure how you can say its been a difficult ground for us over the years.

I admit I made a mistake I meant to say last year at Turf Moor where we got slapped, and where Burnley have turned over a lot of good teams in recent times. Before that we've done OK at Turf Moor.

Looking at the recent fixtures again: Villa, West Ham, Everton and then Arsenal, I don't think it was unreasonable to expect us to lose barring some heroics given our recent form excepting the victory over Burnley.

I said I hoped we would get through this and we have, beyond all our expectations. But it is a fact that we have missed a lot of opportunities this season against sides we should have beaten. Without some outstanding performances against better quality sides such as Spurs and Villa (8 points) we would be in real trouble. We can't rely on that approach if we're going to remain in the PL in the long term.

I said I think we've missed our opportunity. Before the Villa game I think that was a correct assessment, but the team have performed beyound all expectations and put us in a strong position for PL survival. And hence I was wrong.

Despite the Hull result today, I stick with my prediction that 32pts will be sufficient for survival this term. I just don't see those below stringing enough results together.

Had young Sam buried that chance against Utd, I also think Merlin would have been a contender for March MotM!

Am off to the Emirates next week - oh joy!

Don't think we need to worry about getting by on 32 now...we'll make 40 I reckon looking at what's left.
